There's a Volcano in My MacBook Pro

Have you noticed that your Macbook Pro was getting extremely hot? Well, because of how small it is there is not much ventilation, and because of that you Macbook Pro gets extremely hot. Well, there is a solution. It is called smcFanControl, and you can download it here. Basically, it will let you choose the minimum rpm for your fans. So if it gets hot and you want to cool it down in about 2  minutes just set it to 4500 rpm. Or, you can always have it on and set it at something like 1000 rpm.
Pros:
Can quickly cool down your Macbook Pro
Its free
It works great
If you set it too low, the Apple fan controller steps back in
You can control it from the menu bar

Cons:
Once it is open you can't switch back to the way Apple controls the fans unless you restart
Will use up some extra batter

Overall rating: 4 out of 5

I want my DVDs on my Computer!

Have you ever said to yourself, "I want this dvd on my iPod, but I already own it and don't want to buy it again?" Well you don't need to go to the iTunes store and pay for it anymore. The solution is Handbrake. Handbrake is an open source program for Mac, PC, And Linux. It will let you convert your dvd into a MPEG-4 format. All you have to do is insert the dvd you want to import. Select the source. Then Select what type of movie is it (ex: animation, film) and then what device your want it compressed for (ex: iPod, iPhone, AppleTv). Click, "Start" and sit back for a little bit while it imports you video. Once it is finished you now have you videos on your iPod, or whatever you want it on. You can download it here.

What's With iMovie 08

Well as we all know Apple has just released their new iLife 08 and part of that is iMovie. iMovie has been a great editing program for years, yes for the last years, not now. They murdered it, well, for editing. The old iMovie had tons of effects, (audio and visual) a timeline, and it was easy to edit a clip. In the new iMovie o8 you have no timeline, absolutely no video effects, and it is extremely difficult to edit clips. Now, here are the pros, It is like iPhoto so it is more based on a library than editing. You can organize your videos. You can directly upload your videos to Youtube and easily share them. After many complained about it they now offer the free download of iMovie HD at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html

Overall, this upgrade is great for people who do not want to edit their videos at all and want to do it quickly. If you want more advanced editing switch back to iMovie HD or buy Final Cut Express for $199. As for me, I am not buying the new iMovie.

Here is a video about the differences between them
Note: I didn't make this video
